Nicholas Romanow is an active-duty Naval Officer and a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. He holds a B.A. in International Relations and Global Studies and a certificate in Applied Statistical Modeling. Originally born in Canada, he grew up in Dallas, Texas and naturalized as an American citizen in May 2020.

His primary interests include American grand strategy, alliance management, and human rights and democracy issues. He held an undergraduate fellowship with the Clements Center for National Security from August 2019 to May 2021. In summer 2020, he interned with the Foreign and Defense Policy department at the American Enterprise Institute. In the 2020-2021 academic year, he completed an honors thesis on the role of the transatlantic alliance in strategic competition with China. In his undergraduate years, he was also an editor for the Journal of Sino-American Affairs and The Texas Orator, a civics tutor with Generation Citizen, and a moderator and organizer of cross-partisan debates and discussions on campus at the University of Texas.

Nicholas also previously ran with the Texas Longhorns Men’s Cross Country team and remains a competitive distance runner. He currently trains with the Georgetown Running Club and was selected to represent the Navy at the 2022 Armed Forces Cross Country Championships.

Nicholas is currently stationed in the Greater Washington D.C. Area and is involved in the Naval community as a contributor for SEA STATE, a newsletter for junior officers in the maritime services, and as a volunteer assisting with social media for the Center for International Maritime Security.
